Rep. Tulfo files bill for full PhilHealth coverage for OFWs

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo plans to file a bill proposing full PhilHealth coverage for the hospital bills of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.

Tulfo highlighted the need for accessible and worry-free healthcare for OFWs, particularly those in low-wage sectors, recognizing their sacrifices.

He stated that healthcare costs for OFWs' families were raised as a major concern during his visit to Paris, France earlier this month.

The proposed bill aims to alleviate the financial burden of hospital expenses on OFWs and their families.

Currently, PhilHealth only provides partial coverage, resulting in substantial out-of-pocket expenses for OFWs.

While a 50 percent increase in coverage would be beneficial, Tulfo advocates for complete, zero-cost coverage for OFWs.
