Rep. Romulo to sue Discaya couple for libel

Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo will file cases against Sarah and Curlee Discaya for accusing him of receiving kickbacks.

He announced he will release his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) and waive his bank secrecy rights to clear his name.

Romulo denied any dealings with the Discaya couple and refuted accusations of interfering with government project bidding in Pasig.

This follows accusations by businessman Curlee Discaya that Romulo was among House members who demanded kickbacks.

However, Discaya later clarified during a House probe that individuals who approached him for a cut had only used Romulo's name.

In an affidavit, the Discayas claimed project engineer Angelita Garucha approached them to allegedly claim Romulo's share of funds for a flood control project in 2022.

The couple also claimed that in 2025, District Engineer Aristotle Ramos introduced himself as a "bagman" for Romulo and asked for a 30% cut from project funds.
