Rep. Ridon wants probe into Manila Bay Dolomite Beach project

Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon has filed a resolution urging an inquiry into the Manila Bay Dolomite Beach project, citing environmental concerns and its alleged contribution to flooding in Manila.

Ridon stated that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) bears absolute accountability for the project.

He questioned the necessity, cost, and actual impact of the project on Metro Manila's flooding.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority identified the dolomite project as a factor in Manila's flooding, noting it blocked drainage outfalls.

The project, carried out under the Duterte administration at a cost of P389 million, was not included in the National Economic and Development Authority-approved master plan.

Ridon criticized the project as a cosmetic intervention that is also harmful to flood mitigation efforts.
