Lagman questions VP Duterte's family trip amid Luzon state of emergency

Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman criticized Vice President Sara Duterte for taking a personal trip abroad with her family during a state of emergency caused by heavy rains and flooding in Luzon due to Habagat enhanced by tropical cyclone Carina.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed Duterte's trip had been approved by the Office of the President and acknowledged the unfortunate timing with the inclement weather.

Lagman expressed dismay at the Vice President's perceived lack of empathy and concern while many parts of the country were experiencing a state of emergency.

He emphasized that the sincerity of public leaders should be measured by their selflessness and support during national calamities and emergencies.

Lagman also highlighted the relief efforts of the Angat Buhay Foundation, led by former Vice President Leni Robredo, for their continuous aid to victims and for inspiring volunteerism.
