Rep Defensor questions QC's alleged overpriced face shield procurement

Anakalusugan Representative Mike Defensor has called for an investigation into the Quezon City government's alleged overpriced procurement of face shields.

Defensor claimed that the city purchased 400,000 face shields in December 2020 for P67.50 each, when the prevailing market price was only P10 per piece.

He asserted that this represented an overprice of at least P24 million, which is more than 600% higher than the going rate.

The Quezon City government refuted these claims, stating that Defensor failed to consider the context and timing of the procurement, which occurred when face shields were made mandatory by IATF Resolution No. 88.
