PNP reassures VP Sara Duterte security detail remains sufficient

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reassigned 75 members of Vice President Sara Duterte's security detail to address personnel needs, a move the PNP maintains is a matter of "regularity" in police deployment.

Vice President Duterte, upon returning from a trip to Germany, criticized the PNP's decision, calling it politically motivated and a form of "harassment".

However, House Assistant Majority Leader Manila 1st district Rep. Ernesto Dionisio Jr. stated that the PNP Chief is doing his job in deploying police forces and wished the Vice President well on her vacation.

Dionisio added that the PNP will always secure the Vice President, and the Presidential Security Group will ensure her safety.

Another Manila lawmaker, Rep. Joel Chua, previously suggested that the Vice President's complaints about the security cutback were intended to divert attention from her absence during a typhoon.

The Vice President's security detail reportedly still has 355 personnel, including 31 police officers.
