Rep. Chua files HR 41 for Dolphy's National Artist award

Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua filed House Resolution No. 41, pushing for the posthumous conferment of the National Artist award on the late comedy king, Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, Sr.

The resolution tasks the House committees on Creative Industries and Basic Education & Culture to initiate proceedings for Dolphy's nomination to the National Commission for the Arts.

Chua cited Dolphy's achievements, awards, and legacy fitting for a National Artist, in accordance with the Honors Code of the Philippines.

He also noted Dolphy's recognition with the Grand Collar of the Order of the Golden Heart by former President Benigno S. Aquino, Jr., due to his philanthropy and the joy his comedy brought to millions.

Dolphy's body of work earned him accolades such as Best Actor for the 1977 film, Omeng Satanasia, and multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards from various award-giving bodies.

Dolphy, who passed away in 2012, left behind a legacy of iconic television shows and memorable films.
