Rep Barzaga faces ethics complaint for alleged misconduct

Cavite Representative Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga is facing an ethics complaint filed by the National Unity Party (NUP) for alleged misconduct, including posting content that could be interpreted as seditious and demeaning to women.

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) condemned Barzaga's alleged actions, stating they are an affront to the honor and dignity of women and a violation of public trust.

Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno presented photos from Barzaga's social media account displaying women in inappropriate ways, including a scantily clad woman's thighs wrapped around Barzaga's neck, which Puno deemed inappropriate.

Barzaga, who resigned from the NUP, argues he cannot be held liable for posts made before becoming a congressman.

He has prepared his legal defense and is "excited" to debate Puno on the ethics issue, though he believes the complaint may not be filed until next year.

Barzaga also denied Puno's claims about his mental health.
