Religious groups to hold 'Trillion Peso March' vs corruption on Sept 21

Religious leaders and civil society groups are organizing a massive protest on September 21 at the People Power Monument to condemn alleged corruption in flood control projects amounting to trillions of pesos.

The rally, dubbed the 'Trillion Peso March,' is scheduled to start at 2 pm at the People Power Monument on EDSA corner White Plains in Quezon City.

The chosen date, September 21, holds significance as it commemorates the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law by the late Ferdinand E. Marcos.

The protest's name, 'Trillion Peso March,' references the P1.9 trillion allegedly spent on flood control over the last 15 years, with a substantial portion believed to be lost to corruption.

This upcoming protest is being compared to the 2013 'Million People March,' which also used social media to organize a demonstration against corruption in the pork barrel scam.
