Rain or Shine eliminates Magnolia, advances to PBA semi-finals

Rain or Shine eliminated Magnolia, 113-103, in Game 5 of the PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinals at the Ynares Center Antipolo.

The Elasto Painters overcame an early 12-point deficit and will advance to the semifinals to face defending champions TNT Tropang Giga.

Key baskets down the stretch by Andrei Caracut, who scored 8 of his 14 points in the last five minutes, and a late layup by import Aaron Fuller secured the victory for Rain or Shine.

Caracut hit tough buckets over Paul Lee during a finishing run that secured the win for Rain or Shine.

Fuller led the team with 26 points and nine rebounds, while Jhonard Clarito and Adrian Nocum also contributed 17 points each.

Import Jabari Bird scored 23 points for Magnolia, supported by 16 points from Calvin Abueva.

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao admitted being slighted by Magnolia picking his team as its opponent in the quarterfinals.

Guiao felt that Magnolia's decision to rest their stars in a previous game against Converge was a ploy to guide their playoff path towards Rain or Shine.
