Quiboloy asked Pasig court for hospital arrest in Davao City — PNP
Apollo Quiboloy's legal team has filed a motion seeking a hospital arrest for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder in Davao City.
The motion was submitted to the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159, requesting Quiboloy's transfer to a medical facility while he remains in a custodial facility.
Quiboloy, along with four subordinates, has pleaded not guilty to charges of child abuse.
A co-accused, Ingrid Canada, also requested hospital arrest and the Pasig RTC ordered both Quiboloy and Canada undergo medical checkups with government doctors.
While the court decided that Quiboloy's four co-accused be transferred to the Pasig City Jail, it ordered that Quiboloy must stay in the PNP detention facility pending the resolution for his medical checkup.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo stated that Quiboloy's medical condition, which includes hypertension, needs assessment, though prosecutors are opposing the hospital arrest request.
Prosecutors argued that granting the hospital arrest would undermine the purpose of consolidating cases originating from Davao City to Quezon City.
