QC imposes lockdown on 20 areas in 5 barangays

Quezon City has imposed a 'special concern lockdown' on 20 areas within five barangays due to high coronavirus case numbers.

The lockdown, which began on May 13 and lasts 14 days, targets specific areas such as roads, compounds, or blocks within the barangays rather than entire communities.

Two compounds in Barangay Culiat, Vargas Compound and Angkop Canada Compound, are heavily affected, with 350 and 160 families respectively under lockdown.

Vargas Compound has four confirmed COVID-19 cases, while Angkop Canada Compound has ten confirmed cases.

Quezon City remains under enhanced community quarantine until May 15, transitioning to modified ECQ from May 16 to May 31.

The areas were selected by the City Health Department based on community-based testing results from its Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
