PVL referees reassigned after controversial call in Petro Gazz-Creamline game

Volleyball referee Bobby Celso and a line judge will be "reassigned" for the remainder of the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference following a controversial call during the Petro Gazz-Creamline semifinal game.

The incident involved a spike by Creamline's Alyssa Valdez, initially ruled out but later reversed after a block by Petro Gazz's Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and MJ Phillips, which Petro Gazz believes affected the game's outcome.

PVL Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo clarified that no suspensions were handed down, stating the officials will "lay low" until the conference ends.

Petro Gazz management had previously released a statement expressing concerns over officiating lapses and calling for the PVL to address them to preserve the league's integrity.
