PSC chairman urges Filipinos to support para-athletes in Paris Paralympics

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richard Bachmann is calling on Filipinos to show strong support for the country's six para-athletes competing in the upcoming Paris Paralympic Games.

The 17th Paralympic Games are scheduled to begin on August 28 in Paris, France, with an opening ceremony at the Place de la Concorde and Champs-Elysees.

Bachmann hopes the public's support for the para-athletes will match or even exceed the support given to the Olympians who competed in the Paris Olympics.

The six Filipino Paralympians representing the country are para track and field athletes Jerrold Mangliwan and Cendy Asusano, swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Mae Otom, taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin, and archer Agustina Bantiloc.

These athletes have been training in Nimes, France since August 11 and have recently checked into the Paralympic Village.
