PSA declares persona non grata any orgs limiting media accreditation

The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) has established new measures to combat censorship after the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) briefly revoked the accreditation of sports website SPIN.ph during the FIVB World Men's Championship.

Any official or organization that withholds or forfeits a member's credentials without due process and prior notice will now be declared persona non grata by the PSA.

The PSA emphasized that media accreditation should not be used as a tool for retaliation against critical reporting.

To prevent misuse of the new policy, the PSA will guide its members on fair reporting and establish a committee to mediate disputes between journalists and sports officials regarding accreditation.

The PSA affirmed its commitment to press freedom, stating that no sports body can undermine this constitutional guarantee.
