City mayors get new posts as NegOr's new governor, vice governor
Pryde Henry Teves, the Mayor of Bayawan City, has been elected as the new governor of Negros Oriental, defeating incumbent Governor Roel Degamo.
Teves, representing the Nationalist People's Coalition, garnered 301,319 votes, while Degamo of the Nacionalista Party secured 281,773 votes, a difference of 19,546 votes.
Guihulngan City Mayor Guido Reyes, also from the Nacionalista Party, was elected vice governor, narrowly defeating incumbent Board Member Erwin Macias by 1,254 votes.
The provincial board of canvassers proclaimed Teves and Reyes on Tuesday evening.
The province's three incumbent House representatives, Jocelyn Limkaichong, Manuel "Chikiting" Sagarbarria, and Arnolfo Teves Jr., were also reelected and proclaimed.
