Presidential spox clarifies Duterte's 'perpetual isolation' remark

President Rodrigo Duterte is under strict precautionary measures against COVID-19, with presidential spokesperson Harry Roque clarifying that the phrase "perpetual isolation" was a figure of speech to emphasize the Presidential Security Group's prudence in maintaining physical distance.

Roque stated that no one can go near the President, requiring more than a meter of distancing, and even private conversations are conducted via phone calls.

He dismissed social media rumors about a medical plane supposedly taking the President to Singapore, confirming that the Presidential plane was not used and is not currently flying.

Roque assured the public that the President is healthy and not sick, despite the heightened security measures.

The 1987 Constitution requires the disclosure of the President's health condition in case of serious illness.
