DOTr to start relaunch of ‘Love Bus’ in Cebu, Davao
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced the return of the iconic Love Bus service during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA 2025).
The original Love Bus, popularized by then Metro Manila Governor Imelda Marcos, was known as the country's first air-conditioned bus line in the 1970s.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon expressed hope that the Love Bus could be implemented as a nationwide program before the end of 2025.
The program will be studied in the coming weeks, and the DOTr has released photos showing the design of the new electric Love Buses.
The service will be offered free of charge and is currently undergoing pilot testing in Davao and Cebu, with plans to expand to other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Transportation reforms under Dizon also include a 50% train discount for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
