PRC resumes NAIA COVID-19 swab tests after partial PhilHealth payment

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has resumed its COVID-19 swab testing services at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after receiving partial payment from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

PRC Chairman Richard Gordon confirmed that testing would begin Tuesday night and resume in full on Wednesday.

PhilHealth released P500 million as partial payment to the PRC, which is still owed over P930 million for previous tests.

Travelers will now shoulder the costs for the tests, with OFWs charged P3,500 and non-OFWs P4,000, a change from the previous arrangement where PhilHealth covered the expenses.

The PRC had previously halted tests chargeable to PhilHealth after October 14 due to the outstanding debt.
