PRC opens first hospital-based blood collecting unit at Ospital ng Parañaque II

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has inaugurated its first hospital-based blood collecting unit and station at the Ospital ng Parañaque II (OsPar II) in Parañaque City.

This new facility aims to enhance access to blood transfusions for patients directly within the hospital, eliminating the burden of finding blood.

PRC Chairman Richard Gordon stated that the facility would also serve as a convenient location for voluntary blood donors.

The inauguration, which took place on Friday, April 25, was attended by key officials, including PRC Chairman Richard Gordon, Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, and Ospital ng Parañaque Director Patrick Esmael Cruz.

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez highlighted that the blood station is expected to benefit the city's 850,000 residents, particularly during emergencies and surgeries.

This marks the fifth blood service facility for the PRC Rizal Chapter Parañaque City Branch and contributes to the PRC's network of 77 blood collection units nationwide.
