Poyos, Cacao named UAAP volleyball players of the week

University of Santo Tomas' Angge Poyos and Far Eastern University's Ariel Cacao were named UAAP Season 86 volleyball players of the week for their outstanding performances in the league's opening week.

Poyos led the UST Golden Tigresses to an undefeated record, averaging 20 points per game and showcasing a standout 24-point performance against UE's Casiey Dongallo.

She also contributed significantly in wins against perennial contenders National University and defending champions De La Salle University.

Despite her strong performance, Poyos expressed a desire for continued improvement, stating, "Masasabi ko na ito na talaga yung performance ko, ito na talaga yung Angge pero meron pang ibubuga sa next games."

Poyos' consistency and contributions were crucial for her team's early success in the tournament.

She was recognized over notable players including her teammate Bernadett Pepito, La Salle's Angel Canino, and UE's Dongallo.
