Power restored in 24 Masbate barangays after storm damage

Power has been restored in 24 barangays across Masbate province as of Monday, October 6, according to the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO).

This accounts for 7.32 percent of the 328 barangays connected to the cooperative, with 10 of the restored barangays located in Masbate City.

The Department of Energy's Task Force Kapatid is working with MASELCO linemen to re-erect electric posts and restore power to all affected areas.

Severe Tropical Storm Opong caused an estimated PHP390.3 million in damage to the province's electricity infrastructure.

Governor Richard Kho previously stated that potable water and electricity are the province's most urgent needs.

Thousands of evacuees are still being provided with food packs by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

MASELCO urges consumers to be patient and cautious around damaged electrical wires to prevent injuries or fatalities.
