Pope Leo XIV appointed Filipino De La Salle Brother and former Education Secretary Armin Luistro as one of 19 new members of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

The dicastery promotes, encourages, and regulates the practice of evangelical counsels.
It also approves cases of vowed members seeking to leave religious life or being asked to do so, and oversees the establishment, mergers, suppressions, and unions of religious orders and superiors general.
Luistro, who was elected superior general of the De La Salle Brothers in 2022, is the first Asian to hold the position.
He previously served as president of De La Salle Philippines and headed the Department of Education (DepEd) under the late President Benigno Aquino III.
