Police captain killed in Bulacan shootout after alleged robbery

A police officer was killed in Marilao, Bulacan, after allegedly robbing a convenience store and engaging in a shootout with responding officers.

The suspect, initially described as wearing a red jacket, reportedly stole P20,000 from the store before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Authorities tracked the suspect to a subdivision where he allegedly drew a firearm and fired at police, leading to a return of fire.

The suspect was wounded during the exchange and later died at a hospital.

While PRO 3 identified the suspect only as a member of the law enforcement community, an earlier police report identified him as a police captain from Caloocan City Police Station.
