POC Pres. Tolentino to be feted as Executive of the Year

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino will be honored as the Executive of the Year at the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Annual Awards Night on January 27.

This award recognizes Tolentino's leadership in overseeing the performance of the Filipino contingent at the Paris and Tokyo Games.

Under his helm, Team Philippines secured its first-ever double gold medal through gymnast Carlos Yulo in Paris, and previously, the country's first Olympic gold medal through weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in Tokyo.

The Philippines also bagged two bronze medals in Paris courtesy of boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, along with silver medals from Petecio and Carlo Paalam and a bronze from Eumir Marcial in Tokyo.

This marks the third consecutive time Tolentino will receive this prestigious award, having previously won it in 2021 and 2022.

Gymnast Carlos Yulo is among the top awardees being celebrated at the event, referred to as the 'Oscars of Philippine Sports'.
