PNP chief warns cops vs partisan politics ahead of 2025 polls

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has warned police officers against engaging in partisan political activities ahead of the 2025 elections.

He directed all local police units to intensify election-related preparations as candidates begin filing their certificates of candidacy (COC) from October 1 to 8.

Marbil stressed that police officers must maintain political neutrality and avoid being influenced or used by politicians, reiterating that the PNP's role is strictly limited to upholding law and order without bias.

He warned that officers engaging in partisan activities will face swift and decisive action, as the organization is tasked with protecting the democratic process, not participating in it.

Marbil encouraged the public to cooperate with the PNP during the election period and to report irregularities involving law enforcers.
