PNP to open 2nd COVID-19 testing facility in Camp Crame

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is planning to establish a second RT/PCR testing facility within Camp Crame to enhance its capacity for COVID-19 testing among its personnel and their dependents.

PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa stated that the new facility, once operational, could increase their daily testing capacity from 300-450 to potentially 600 tests per day if automated.

Training for police personnel who will manage the second testing center is currently underway.

Gamboa also expressed hope for the imminent opening of testing facilities in Cebu and Davao.

The PNP launched its first testing facility in May and is also focusing on ensuring adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for officers enforcing quarantine measures.

As of the report, the PNP has recorded over 2,000 COVID-19 cases, with a significant number originating from Regions III, VII, IV-A, and the National Police Training Institute, which had 183 infections.
