PNP to enforce 5-meter avoidance zone along Bogo Bay Fault in Cebu

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will assist in enforcing a five-meter "zone of avoidance" along the Bogo Bay Fault in Cebu, following recommendations from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

This safety measure aims to reduce the risk of damage and casualties from future ground-rupturing earthquakes.

Acting PNP chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has directed local police units in Central Visayas to coordinate with disaster officials and local government units (LGUs).

Police stations in Bogo City and surrounding areas will help disseminate information, patrol vulnerable communities, and enforce the safety perimeters.

The "zone of avoidance" is defined as a five-meter buffer on each side of the Bogo Bay Fault trace.
