Five PNP area commands deactivated, 184 cops affected
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deactivated its five Area Police Commands (APCs) including those for Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, Western Mindanao, and Eastern Mindanao.
The deactivation affects approximately 184 police personnel, including 26 senior officers.
PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil requested a gradual transition to ensure that no affected personnel will be displaced.
Most of the affected personnel are projected to fill up existing vacancies, with some expected to be reassigned to the newly established Negros Island Region Police Office.
The APCs were initially called Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPOs) and were created to synchronize security operations with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
