PNP reviews disability discharge and benefits policies

Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered a review of the PNP's disability discharge and benefits policies.

This action follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to conduct a similar review after an Army captain lost his sight in the line of duty and was subsequently discharged.

The PNP Health Service and the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management will audit current disability discharge procedures to identify outdated provisions, gaps, and potential improvements.

As part of this comprehensive review, the PNP plans to consult with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other security agencies to align disability ratings, medical evaluation standards, and benefit computations across all uniformed services.

The PNP is conducting this reassessment as a parallel review to the one initiated by the President for the DND and AFP.
