PNP reinstates AKG acting director after Comelec clarification

Police Colonel Elmer Ragay has been reinstated as the acting director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) after his administrative relief was nullified by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP made this decision following a consultation with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) regarding election period regulations.

Comelec Resolution 11059 prohibits any transfer or detail of civil service personnel, including the PNP, during the election period without prior written authority from the commission.

Ragay's administrative relief, which was effective February 28, stemmed from an investigation into issues related to the rescue operation of a kidnapped Chinese minor in Taguig City.
