PNP mobilizes for 3-day transport strike, reports no untoward incidents on Day 1

The Philippine National Police (PNP) mobilized personnel and resources for a three-day transport strike from December 9 to 11, 2025, with no untoward incidents reported on the first day.

PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered police commanders to coordinate with local government units and other agencies for a unified response.

PNP vehicles were on standby to assist stranded passengers, and personnel were deployed to key transport hubs and main thoroughfares.

Nineteen strike centers across Metro Manila and surrounding provinces were monitored.

This mobilization aligns with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive, guided by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, to guarantee public safety and maintain smooth mobility.

The PNP aims to ensure that the protest action by transport group MANIBELA is conducted peacefully and orderly.

MANIBELA is staging the nationwide strike to protest excessive penalties, slow processing of government documents, and widespread apprehensions and extortion, as well as alleged abuses against jeepney drivers and a supposed bribery system within the Land Transportation Office.
