PNP intensifies crackdown on illegal fireworks factories after deadly Bulacan blast

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an intensified crackdown on unauthorized fireworks manufacturers following a fatal explosion at an illegal pyrotechnic factory in Norzagaray, Bulacan, which killed two people, including a minor.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged factory owners to prioritize safety over profit and warned of legal action against violators.

The PNP's campaign is in line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive through Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to ensure strict enforcement of safety regulations.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast, which occurred at a factory allegedly operating without permits.

The PNP is committed to holding accountable any factory owner proven to have violated the law and is working with regulatory agencies to enforce safety standards.
