Nineteen police officers have been dismissed from the Philippine National Police (PNP) for grave misconduct within just over a month since Gen. Nicolas Torre III assumed command.
These dismissals are a result of 31 resolved administrative cases, according to Atty. Brigido Dulay, Inspector General of the PNP's Internal Affairs Service (IAS).
The cases stemmed from complaints received after Torre took command on June 2 and included incidents requiring automatic investigation, such as firearm discharges, deaths, or injuries during police operations.
The highest-ranking officer dismissed was a lieutenant colonel, with the remainder being non-commissioned personnel.
In addition to the dismissals, two officers were demoted, one was suspended, and nine were cleared of charges.
The IAS recorded a total of 208 administrative cases involving 797 officers, prompted by Torre's directive to uphold discipline and human rights.
