PNP-DEG seizes P795M illegal drugs in May operations

The Philippine National Police (PNP) - Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) confiscated illegal drugs worth over PHP795 million in May through 81 intelligence-driven operations.

These operations included buy-busts, search warrants, marijuana eradication, and manhunt operations, with no reported fatalities.

A total of 74 individuals were apprehended, 47 in buy-bust operations, 24 in manhunt operations, and three through search warrants.

The seized substances included 5,644 grams of suspected shabu and a significant amount of marijuana, such as 3,132,300 marijuana plants, 500 seedlings, 1,090,000 leaves, and 3,000 grams of seeds.

The estimated street value of the confiscated and destroyed illegal drugs is P795,734,200.

PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta stated that these operations help impede the proliferation of illegal drugs and ensure public safety.
