Nartatez honors slain CIDG officer in Cebu
Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. visited the wake of Capt. Joel Deiparine in Cebu City, who was killed on Oct. 25 while on a surveillance operation against a gun-for-hire group.
During the visit, Nartatez assured Deiparine's family of financial and legal assistance and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Five of the six suspects, including the primary gunman who surrendered in Pasig City, are now under police custody.
Captain Deiparine was posthumously awarded the PNP Heroism Medal (Medalya ng Kadakilaan) for his bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.
