PNP chief, Defense Sec. receive invite for rev gov meeting

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa confirmed receiving an invitation via Viber from the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte - National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) to a meeting advocating for a revolutionary government.

Gamboa did not attend the August 20 meeting as he had not personally seen the Viber message at the time and stated he had no chance to study the invitation's contents.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana also confirmed receiving an invitation from the MRRD-NECC through a mobile messaging application, but did not attend because he does not support the group's advocacy.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay was also reportedly invited but has yet to confirm.

The MRRD-NECC's proposed revolutionary government would be headed by Duterte until December 31, 2021, after which an election would be held under a federal form of government.

Senator Panfilo Lacson commended Gamboa for not attending and advised government leaders to disregard such invitations.
