PNP ACG arrests 10 nationwide for illegal online firecracker sales

Ten individuals were arrested nationwide by the Philippine National Police - Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) over the past week for allegedly selling illegal firecrackers online.

These arrests resulted from seven operations across Metro Manila and nearby provinces, including Tondo, Manila, Cabanatuan City, Imus, Cavite, and Caloocan City.

The operations were initiated after the PNP ACG discovered online advertisements for the illegal sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics, leading to entrapment operations.

Confiscated illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics from the arrested individuals were valued at P7,800 in Tondo, Manila, P2,750 in Cabanatuan City, and 1,057 and 380 pieces from suspects in Imus and Caloocan City, respectively.

PNP ACG Director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta stated that a total of P75,000 worth of fireworks has been confiscated during these operations.

Asueta emphasized the need for strict adherence to transport protocols for prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics, even for authorized sellers.
