PLDT, Smart partner with MPower to register 153 sites for energy program

PLDT and Smart Communications have partnered with MPower, Meralco's retail electricity supplier, to register 153 sites under the Energy Regulatory Commission's Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).

This initiative involves 144 cell sites and nine facilities, with a combined demand exceeding 2,500 kilowatts.

The partnership is anticipated to lead to reduced electricity costs, better energy management, and strengthened sustainability efforts for PLDT and Smart.

PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan emphasized the critical link between reliable power and digital connectivity for national progress and ensuring opportunities for all Filipinos.

The RAP allows companies to consolidate multiple accounts within a franchise area and procure electricity in bulk from licensed suppliers, potentially accessing more affordable rates and renewable energy options.
