PLDT Enterprise launches SmartSafe to eliminate OTPs for online transactions

PLDT Enterprise has launched SmartSafe, a new service that eliminates the need for one-time passwords (OTPs) in online transactions, aiming to enhance security and user experience.

The SmartSafe suite features 'SilentAccess', a GSMA-certified fraud management API that authenticates users in real-time without requiring SMS OTPs.

This system is expected to speed up online transactions by removing OTP delays and curb OTP-related scams, addressing declining user trust in traditional OTP methods.

PLDT senior vice president and enterprise business head Patricio Pineda III stated that SilentAccess is the telco's response to the growing abuse of OTPs for scams, allowing authentication in just one tap.

PLDT Chairman Manny Pangilinan expressed enthusiasm for SmartSafe, highlighting it as a significant new service for the Philippine market promoting digital security and protection for users.

PLDT Enterprise formalized a partnership with state regulators, including the Department of Information and Communications Technology, in launching this cybersecurity service portfolio.
