PLDT advances to PVL semifinals after beating Chery Tiggo

PLDT has advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference after defeating Chery Tiggo in a five-set match, with final scores at 25-23, 25-27, 15-25, 25-18, and 15-9.

Russian import Elena Samoilenko was a key player for PLDT, contributing 37 points, including 32 from attacks, three from blocks, and two aces, in addition to blunting 15 services.

Fiola Ceballos added 12 points for PLDT, along with eight excellent digs and 14 excellent receptions.

Setter Kim Fajardo facilitated the offense with 23 excellent sets throughout the game.

Coach Rald Ricafort motivated his team by reminding them they deserved to reach this stage due to their hard work.

Samoilenko's off-the-block smash clinched the fourth set for PLDT, forcing a decisive fifth set.

This marks PLDT's return to the semifinals for the first time since the All-Filipino Conference last year.

PLDT is set to face top seed Akari in the semifinals.
