Pilipinas Aguilas win WMPBL debut against New Zealand-Bluefire

The Pilipinas Aguilas secured a victory in their Women's Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) debut, defeating New Zealand-Bluefire 66-55.

A decisive 12-1 run in the fourth quarter, led by Chack Cabinbin, Melody Cac, Cheska Apag, and Mar Prado, broke a tie and sealed the win for the Aguilas.

The Aguilas' defense was crucial, holding the Valkyries to only seven points in the final quarter and scoreless for the last five minutes.

Mar Prado registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while team captain Chack Cabinbin contributed 12 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and five steals.

Aguilas head coach Ryan Monteclaro acknowledged the win as part of a learning curve, emphasizing the team's composure and adherence to their developing system.

Monteclaro stressed that despite the initial win, the team is still in a developmental stage and the victory was a collective effort.
