PICTO backs Aguda's DICT secretary appointment

The Philippine Information and Communications Technology Organization (PICTO) supports Henry Aguda's appointment as the new Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Aguda, reappointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 17, is awaiting confirmation from the Commission on Appointments after his ad interim appointment was bypassed due to "lack of material time."

PICTO cited Aguda's distinguished private sector career, particularly his leadership in the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), as a key reason for their support.

The organization believes his experience uniquely positions him to lead the country's digital transformation.

PICTO highlighted that industry stakeholders are committed to working collaboratively under his leadership to build a connected, secure, and inclusive Philippines.

The ICT industry continues to face pressing challenges such as slow internet connectivity, cybersecurity threats, digital inequality, infrastructure gaps, and workforce skill shortages.
