Phl manufacturing growth slows to 7-month low in Nov

The country's manufacturing output growth slowed to a seven-month low in November 2025, declining by 1.5% compared to a 1% growth in October 2025.

This slowdown was primarily attributed to weak domestic consumption and sluggish export demand, as well as typhoon-related production disruptions.

The decline was most pronounced in the production of coke and refined petroleum products, which saw an 11.4% decrease, and beverages, which contracted by 2.8%.

Food product manufacturing also contributed to the slowdown, with growth decelerating from 8.1% in October to 4.2% in November.

Despite the November downturn, the overall manufacturing output for January to November 2025 showed a slight contraction of 0.1%, an improvement from the 4.5% drop in the same period of 2024.

Union Bank of the Philippines Chief Economist Ruben Carlo O. Asuncion noted that the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) fell to 47.4 from 50.1, indicating a deterioration in operating conditions.
