PHL, Ireland explore defense cooperation

Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr. met with Irish Ambassador to the Philippines Emma Hickey to discuss possible collaboration, particularly in maritime security and peacekeeping.

The Philippines is keen to learn from Ireland's strategies in force recruitment and sustainment, aligning with Ireland's goals to modernize its military.

An invitation was extended to Ireland to participate in a Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) with the Philippines, emphasizing the shared commitment to a rules-based international order.

Ambassador Hickey's visit is part of Ireland's Global Ireland initiative, which seeks to enhance its global partnerships in various sectors.
