Philodrill seeks new SC contract for Palawan oil operations

Philodrill Corp. is seeking a new government contract to continue and expand its petroleum operations in northwest Palawan, following the expiration of its Service Contract (SC) 14C2 on December 17.

The company aims to expand the current contract area to approximately 82,000 hectares by incorporating adjacent open acreage.

West Linapacan is a mature exploration block with a proven petroleum system and remaining recoverable oil, containing two identified oil-bearing structures: West Linapacan A and West Linapacan B.

Production at West Linapacan A began in 1992 and ceased in January 1996 due to uneconomic oil production rates and low global oil prices.

Philodrill, the current operator of the service contract, submitted an application in November for a new Development and Production Petroleum Service Contract.

The proposed new contract seeks to allow further exploration and redevelopment of the West Linapacan area using more advanced technology.
