Philippines to host inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup

The Philippines will host the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup from November 21 to December 7, with 16 national teams participating.

The tournament venues are the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City and the Victorias City Coliseum in Negros Occidental.

Philippine Football Federation President John Gutierrez expressed confidence in the Local Organizing Committee's work with FIFA and stated that preparations are on schedule.

Gutierrez emphasized that the Philippines aims to be competitive and make an impact in the tournament, not just participate.

Qualified teams include Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Iran, Japan, Thailand, Morocco, Tanzania, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Panama, and New Zealand.

A 20-woman pool, to be trimmed to 14 players, is being prepared by coach Rafa Merino, led by skippers Inday Tolentino and Isabella Flanigan.

Administrative Order No. 35 by President Marcos created an Inter-Agency Task Force to support the country's hosting efforts.
