Philippines COVID-19 cases near 249K with 3,821 new infections

The Philippines has reached 248,947 confirmed COVID-19 cases following the announcement of 3,821 new infections on Thursday, September 10.

This marks the third consecutive day with over 3,000 new cases reported.

Metro Manila recorded the highest number of new infections with 2,079, followed by Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and Bulacan.

Eighty-six percent of the newly reported cases were acquired in the past 14 days.

The death toll has risen to 4,066 with 80 new fatalities, and total recoveries are now 186,058.

There are 58,823 active cases, with the majority being mild or asymptomatic.

As of September 9, 46% of COVID-19 intensive care unit beds nationwide were occupied and 28% of mechanical ventilators were in use.
