Philippine Navy women's basketball team debuts in MPBL Sunday

The Philippine Navy women's basketball team, backed by Kalos PH and Go for Gold, is set to debut in the Women's Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) on Sunday, January 26.

The Lady Sailors will be led by playing coach Ewon Arayi, a pioneer in women's basketball who expressed excitement for the opportunity.

Arayi highlighted that the league, supported by Manny Pacquiao, Senator Francis Tolentino, and the MPBL Partylist, has been a long-time dream for many female basketball players.

The Philippine Navy-Kalos PH squad will also feature Gilas Women mainstays Afril Bernardino, Gemma Miranda, and Andrea Tongco.

Their opponent, the Cavite Tol Lady Patriots, aims to bounce back from a recent loss to the New Zealand Bluefire Valkyries, and is led by UAAP record-holder Luisa San Juan.

The debut game will be held at the Enderun Gym in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Additionally, national team legend Raiza Palmera-Dy will be juggling dual roles as a player for Discovery Perlas and a coach for Far Eastern University in separate games.
