Philippine Navy denies holding whistleblower Sgt. Orly Guteza

The Philippine Navy has denied that retired Sgt. Orly Guteza, a whistleblower mentioned by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, is being detained by the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).

This statement comes after former Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor claimed that Guteza was initially taken for protection but is now allegedly being held against his will by the PMC's intelligence unit.

Navy spokesperson Capt. Marissa Martinez clarified that Mr. Guteza is not under Navy custody or protection in any capacity.

Martinez emphasized that the Navy's thorough verification, including inspections and intelligence validations, confirmed that claims about Guteza's custody are unfounded and lack factual basis.

The Navy asserted that it is a professional and disciplined institution committed to upholding constitutional processes and democratic institutions.
